Artist Information
Based in Atlanta since 2004, Buffalo Alice is Alex Aaron (vocals/guitar), John Bennett (drums) and former Weezer guitarist Jason Cropper (bass/guitar/vocals). After performing for more than a year as a solo acoustic act, founding member singer/songwriter Alex Aaron (formerly of G.B. Fuzz) added long-time friend John Bennett (Crossing The Gore) to record at Reel-to-Real Studios - for Screw Records.
In 2006 Buffalo Alice released their debut, the "genre-jumping and insidiously catchy indie rock [cd]" The Fifth Sparrow, and broke out of the regional circuit with shows from Atlanta to North Dakota to Oregon. Later that year, Aaron began an impromptu musical partnership via MySpace with former Weezer guitarist and L.A. - based producer, Jason Cropper. Cropper co-wrote a song for and produced Mitchell, "an intriguing and bold [2007] sophomore effort."
In support of Mitchell, Buffalo Alice played in L.A. with Cropper and received airplay on college radio, public radio and commercial radio stations including Atlanta's 99x and Project 96.1.
Buffalo Alice's sense of originality spills over into their live performance. The group has played around the country with groups such as Boy Hits Car, The Edison Project, Harry and the Potters, and Corey Crowder.
The group's first single "The Guelph Song" off their debut album and the single "The Fifth Sparrow" from their sophomore album are currently being played on college, public and commercial stations around the country and they have recently been featured on the television shows "The Unsigned" and "Channel Zero".
In 2007 Aaron and Cropper were co-writing and producing Buffalo Alice's third album The Alexander Rosenhoff Testament - A Work Of Fiction. The album was released in the summer of 2008.
In 2008 Alex Aaron teamed up with Ben Kweller bassist Chris Morrissey to record the bands fourth full length album The Gardener , an album filled with hints of rock, bluegrass, country, and folk. The string accompaniment by Chris Morrissey proved to be the sweetest harmonies for Aaron's melancholy vocals.
